Hard to believe that we are 8 months into 2014 and that summer will start to wind down before we know it. As all of you are coming back from vacations the HDI West Texas chapter would like to keep you involved in your local IT community. We have partnered with the local ISSA chapter to bring you a speaker from FireEye. As a leader in IT security, FireEye has some of the best enterprise security knowledge and talent around. They are sending a very dynamic speaker to us next Tuesday the 12th to discuss the cyber security threat landscape for our organizations. Take advantage of this opportunity to gather useful knowledge on protecting your organization and to grab a free lunch as well.

We are also needing to elect a new VP of Membership for your West Texas HDI chapter. If you would like to volunteer for this position or nominate someone, please email me president@hdiwesttexas.com. We will elect the position during Tuesday's (8/12) meeting so that they can start their role in October.

We look forward to seeing you all Tuesday the 12th at 11:30 - Byron Martin Tech Center (3201 Ave Q Lubbock, Tx 79411).

Sincerely,

Membership Drive

Beginning with our meeting in January, we will be holding a Membership Drive to increase the number of members we have in our organization. We believe that the more members we have, the greater the value of that membership. As such, we are offering the following incentives:

  • At our January chapter meeting, we will have a drawing for all those in attendance who are not members. The winner of this drawing will receive a free membership.
  • During registration for our next meeting, non-members will be able to make note of any member that referred them. At the meeting, we will also be presenting a gift card to the current member who has the most referrals in attendance.
  • Finally, two weeks after our January meeting, we will have a drawing for a gift card for all new members that signed up in that two week period.

More details on these drawing will be announced as the January meeting approaches!

HDI Annual Awards

Thank you to those who completed nominations for our Desktop Support Technician of the Year and Analyst of the Year awards! Due to the limited number of submissions, rather than hosting a special awards ceremony this month, the winners will be recognized at our next chapter meeting.

We will begin our meeting fifteen minutes earlier than usual to accommodate these extra awards.

During the next year, please be watching and thinking about whom in your you could nominate for these prestigious awards next year!
